Resources within this section provide background information regarding local development & industries that historically defined Whatcom County, and have impacted the environment.    Major industries include farming, fishing, mining (gold & coal), and all aspects of the timber industry (including logging, milling, etc.); as well as hydroelectric dams in eastern Whatcom County.
