The Integrated Literacies workshop series supports Writing Proficiency courses with targeted instruction for different stages of the research and writing process.
- Workshop delivery is collaborative and instructors are required to be present.
- Submit workshop requests at least two weeks in advance of the scheduled class period. All workshop requests should be submitted by the end of the third week of the quarter.

- Getting Started: Students will learn about the recursive nature of research and writing and strategies for getting started with a research paper. This workshop covers:
- Analyzing the assignment
- Choosing a topic
- Drafting an inquiry question
- Testing the inquiry question and starting to form sub-questions
- Finding & Using Sources: Students will learn how to locate, evaluate, and incorporate sources into writing. This workshop covers:
- Revisiting the inquiry question and sub-questions
- Research databases for locating sources
- Evaluating sources
- Basic academic reading literacies
- Building the draft and next steps
- Revising & Editing: Using their existing rough drafts, students will strategies for revising their writing according to academic and discipline-specific style values. This workshop covers:
- Revising the thesis
- Revising for organization
- Academic style values
- Editing and proofreading
- Basics on documenting and citing sources
