OneSearch: the library catalog, including books, ebooks, journal articles, streaming video, and more. Borrow books from nearly 40 academic libraries in the northwest. Always "Sign in for Full Access" for access to all sources.
Reference: Reference books are located in Haggard Hall 2nd floor, behind the Student Technology Desk. They are useful for background information, definitions, leads to sources, subject introduction.
Databases: use for finding journal article, book chapters, subject specific databases provide the best access to subject literature.
Inter Library Loan: Western Libraries provides two systems for getting materials this library does not own, Summit and ILLIAD. Summit is integrated into the OneSearch catalog, use for borrowing books from member libraries. ILLIAD is a separate service providing PDFs of journal articles usually in a day or less.
Studio: The Hacherl Research & Writing Studio, the place to begin your research and follow through to completing the project. Drop-in or chat, the studio personnel are ready to help you.
Tutorial: Library Information Tutorial has several sections for self-guided help through a research project from brainstorming to bibliography.
Zotero: citation management software keeps sources organized and generates reference lists (bibliographies) in any style needed.
Rhetorical Moves: handout from integrated literacy workshops providing analysis for reading and synthesizing sources.
Academic Honesty: information about integrity at Western, including frequently asked questions, resources for students, and academic honesty policies & procedures at Western.
