Schneider Family Book Awards

The Schneider Family Book Awards honor an author or illustrator for a book that embodies an artistic expression of the disability experience for child and adolescent audiences.

Hans Christian Anderson Award

Every other year IBBY presents the Hans Christian Andersen Awards to a living author and illustrator whose complete works have made a lasting contribution to children's literature. The Hans Christian Andersen Award is the highest international recognition given to an author and an illustrator of children's books.

Search the library catalog and type in your topic keywords or Library of Congress (LC) subject terms.

General Terms: children with disabilities, people with disabiliities, speech disorders, speech therapy, hearing disorders

Specific Terms: deaf, deaf culture, cancer, psychosomatic speech disorders, cerebral palsy, autism, asperger's syndrome

You will find a rotating sample of United States, Canadian, and Washington State publications in CLIC. For example, there are coloring books, puzzles, nature guides and special topics like bullying, pollution awareness, and nutrition on the shelves.
